What is Lip Filler?
The medical term for lip fillers is lip augmentation. Lip augmentation is the procedure where filler is injected into the lips in order to give them a fuller and symmetrical appearance. Lip fillers are an extremely safe procedure-- if done by a board certified doctor. Fillers provide a super natural look, because the primary ingredient in fillers are hyaluronic acid, which is what our bodies naturally make.
There are two main brands of lip injectables: Restylane and Juvederm. The product used for lip augmentation os determined by the injector based on the patient's aesthetic goals.
Are Lip Fillers Safe?
As previously mentioned, lip fillers are extremely safe when performed by a board certified doctor. However, there are more factors that make lip filler safe. Lip fillers hardly give patients allergic reactions, because it contains hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is something our body naturally creates, so it is impossible to get an allergic reaction from it. Lip fillers also have minimal downtime, and there are little side effects from the procedure.
What are the Side Effects from Filler?
After getting filler, patients can expect bruising for up to two weeks. This is extremely normal, and can be treated with post injection creme and arnica.
